Work Preferences
The Work Preferences view is used to define the preferences for each staff member for the week. Options available are:
Off | The employee regularly does not work on this day |
Open | This employee will start at the ‘Centre Opens’ (time)’ setting |
Early | This employee will start their shift at or before the ‘Early Shifts Start by’ setting |
Late | This employee will end their shift at or after the ‘Early Shifts End after’ setting |
Close | This employee will end their shift at the ‘Centre Closes (time)’ setting |
This view is intended to record ‘regular’ working schedule for ‘Off’ days. Leave / Annual leave is best entered in the Payroll view. However, this functionality is the recommended way to account for public holidays in the coming week.
The system will always honour the Off, Open and Close settings. The system will use the Early and Late settings as ‘indicators of preference’. ie: If more people are set to ‘Early’ or ‘Late' than are required, the system may assign the employee a different shift.
Note: The use of this screen severely limits the options the Optimiser has to create efficient rosters.
It is recommended that only ‘essential’ or 'must have’ preferences are specified on this screen to allow the optimiser to have as much flexibility as possible.
The system can be configured for what is considered an ‘early’ shift and a ‘late’ shift on the Configuration - Defaults view.
The system can be configured to allow all the options, or to allow just Off, Open and Close. By default all values are available. Contact Daitum via support@daitum.com if you want to prevent usage of the ‘Early / Late’ concept.
Consistency of Shifts
When the ‘consistency of shifts’ feature is turned on, an extra column will be visible that allows configuration of who receives consistent shifts. When set the staff selected will receive the same value for the entire week.
In the example below Louis and Hui are configured to receive consistency times every day of the week:
Consistency of Shift will apply to any days that Open and Close have not been set. Open or Close are required for the entire week, set that on the right hand side of the screen.
The options available are:
Time Only: allows consistent start times for the week. Which room they are allocated to may change depending on what is set on the Staff-Areas view
Time and Area: allows consistent start time and room based on the availability and areas preferences chosen
Area Only: allows consistency of room and flexibility of start time.
